Angela Jane Fountas is of Greek and Irish origin, and her work draws inspiration from both sides of her family tree. Another Kind of Symmetry, her debut novel, won the 2024 Permafrost Prize in Fiction and is forthcoming in 2026.

She holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Alabama, and her fiction has been published in Fairy Tale Review, Diagram, Redivider and elsewhere. She has also published Waking Up American, an anthology of personal essays, and was awarded a Hugo House Residency and an Artist Trust Fellowship.
